
This unique snake scale-like patterned stone is a fossilized palate (pharyngeal) of ancient wrasse fish which found only in Madura island in Indonesia. The craftsmanship of lapidary artisan decides on the angle, depth and shape on the rough fossils to create and reach the interesting pattern. This exquisite stone and a black diamond is framed in solid 14k gold bezel, hand sewn and hand engraving details in silver which echoes the pattern in subtle, flowing way. The chain is oxidized. The word purba is inherited from an old Javanese word purbå meaning "ancient".
